Kip Mathis has been named interim board attorney for the Marshall County Board of Education.
The school board held a brief special called meeting Monday to appoint Mathis to that position.
Mathis is a law partner with outgoing Board Attorney Marty Johnson, who is stepping down after 50 years of service to the Board.
Mathis will serve in the interim position through June 30th.
The Board of Education will name a permanent Board Attorney at that time.
