Exhibit teaching bike safety

The Marshall County ConservatIon District hosted its annual Farm and Home Safety Day today for 5th graders in the county.

The event, at Mike Miller Park, is designed to educate students on a variety of safety issues by using interactive exhibits. Information presented included food and kitchen safety, bike safety, and gun safety. Students also received personal hygiene tips, information on water safety and hypothermia, and were shown how to shelter in place. One of the more eye-opening demonstrations came when showing the dangers of getting too close to a tractor's PTO shaft.

The Conservation District is has been hosting Farm and Home Safety Day for over 30 years.
