Due to the possibility of winter weather, we are preparing in case we need to use Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) days next week.
Students will bring their Chromebooks home on Friday, January 23. Any student who needs a charger will be sent home with one. Devices are being sent primarily so students can communicate with their teachers if they need help with their work.
Teachers will offer optional Google Meets for 20 minutes per class period. The schedule is attached. These meetings are meant for guidance and support only. Students will not be penalized if they do not attend a Google Meet. Google Meet links will be posted on each student’s class board in OTUS/Lessons. Students and families may also contact school staff through email (firstname.lastname@marshall.kyschools.us).
Teachers may choose to send home paper assignments or assign digital work through OTUS. Teachers will communicate expectations and assignments with students on Friday, January 23, so students know exactly what to do if NTI days are used. Students will be expected to complete work for all classes, including core and enrichment. If a student is absent on Friday and does not have access to a device at home, they will be allowed to make up any work once we return to school. If possible, please have your student check their email and OTUS messages regularly for the most up-to-date instructions and support.
In situations like this, we know every family’s circumstances are different, including possible power or internet outages, and we will be flexible and supportive as we work with students and families to ensure work can be completed either during NTI days or once we return to school.
You will receive communication from the district regarding any school closures and whether a day will be designated as an NTI day.
We appreciate your support as we work together to keep students safe and learning as best we can. Please reach out to school staff if you have any questions.
