MCHS Senior Walker Jones has signed to compete in track and cross country at Centre College in Danville, Kentucky. Centre is a member of the Southern Athletic Association (NCAADIII). Walker has competed for the Marshall County High School Track and Field and Cross Country program for four years. Last season Walker claimed 2nd team All Area 1 class AAA honors as a 1600m runner.
Walker currently holds a hall of fame performance in the 4x1600 meter relay with a time of 19:45.44. That mark is the 4th best performance in school history and is shared with his former teammates Ethan McCarty, Samuel Lanham, and Sawyer Collins.
"Walker deserves this opportunity to continue the sport he has loved for many years while furthering his education," commented Head Coach Andrew Johnston. "Walker epitomizes what track and field is all about. He loves his craft and is willing to run any event to benefit his team. Walker is a tireless worker, and I am so proud of the student athlete he has matured into."
Walker wishes to thanks the many people who have helped him along the way, including his friends and teammates, his parents Jason and Kelly Jones, his sister Alec Jones, and all of his coaches.
