Dear CCES Families,
Thank you very much for choosing Calvert City Elementary to provide a wonderful education for your student.
The parent/student handbook is very useful for providing information you may need throughout the school year. Please be sure to read it thoroughly.
I want to specifically inform you about a few important school items:
* Our policies/guidelines are extremely important for our students to have a safe, respectful environment in order for your student to reach their full potential. Please sit down and read these policies/guidelines with your student.
* Bullying and harassment has become a big issue in schools throughout the United States. All of our teachers talk with students about bullying and harassment along with the district policy. The teachers teach the students about not making/saying threats such as “I am going to kill you”, or making gestures such as: shooting others with a gun made using a hand gesture. As the parent/guardian, please talk with your student about the words and gestures they use, making sure they are appropriate. Children hear many inappropriate words on television and other media sources, but they must learn it is not appropriate to use these words with others.
* Your student’s attendance is very important to their successful education. Please read the attendance portion of the handbook with your child. Your student is responsible for making up all missed work. Your student needs to be at CCES unless he/she is sick or you have a family emergency.
We are very excited to get to work with your student and with you throughout the school year.
