Measures of Academic Progress
MAP TESTING MAP tests help teachers know exactly where a student is
academically and what areas need improvement.
The MAP tests are web-based tests which enables dynamic questioning. The application senses if a student is struggling .
during test and serves a more appropriate question in real-time

PBIS
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports
PBIS is a framework that assists school personnel in
implementing and organizing evidence-based behavioral
interventions that lead to positive academic and social
behavior outcomes for all students.
South Marshall Elementary School is in its first year of
implementation of a School-Wide PBIS. Our goal is to
improve student academic and behavior outcomes
by making sure all students are provided with the best
instructional and behavioral practices possible.
We believe that students need to know what behavior is
expected of them. It all begins with behavioral
expectations. We have established expectations of behavior
for the common areas of our school, such as
the gym, cafeteria, hallways, playground and bathrooms.
These behavioral expectations are taught to students,
modeled to students and practiced throughout the year.
One key component is praising appropriate behavior. When
students are observed exhibiting the appropriate behaviors
they receive a Positive Praise ticket. Students will receive a
Strike ticket when observed exhibiting inappropriate behavior.
