Sixth grade students at Benton Middle School will begin Arts Alive workshops January 25. Arts Alive is a creative dance program that will be taught by dance specialist, Karen Balzar. Funding for the Arts Alive was awarded to the school by VSA arts of Kentucky, a non-profit organization that provides opportunities in the arts for people with disabilities. All sixth grade students will participate through their guided study class with Mrs. Balzar, and VSA arts coordinator Mrs.Valera Brooks conducting the workshop. Students will learn basic modern dance techniques, elements of dance, and choreography. Arts Alive will conclude in the spring with a students created modern dance production to be presented to the student body and to parents. Funding in the amount of $1200 was awarded to Benton Middle for this program.
