Five members of the Paducah Symphony Orchestra Brass section provided the students of Benton Elementary a concert and a description of each instrument. The selections of music they chose to play included Orchestral, Marches, Ragtime, Big Band, and Jazz. The lineup of instruments were two Trumpets, Trombone, Euphonium, and Tuba. Pictured above is an example of a Piccolo Trumpet. |

| Benton Police Chief Tracy Watwood, along with MCHS students Tory Fehrenbacher and Chase Buchanan, met with 5th grade students to inform and educate them about the DARE program here in Marshall County. They also fielded questions from BES students including the consequences of making good or bad choices in their lives. |

Mr. Scot Durham, Benton Elementary's Music Teacher, has been awarded the "Educator of the Year" Award by the Marshall County Arts Commission. Along with Mr. Durham, two other individuals were honored for "Volunteer of the Year" and "Artist of the Year". Mr. Steve Jackson has retired from Benton Elementary. He was recognized at our school's annual Holiday Breakfast for his years of service to our school and was presented with his own kettle popcorn popper. |

Duo Informs Second-Grade Students About Energy Consumption & Conservation |
Fifth Grade Students Create Live Wax MuseumEach fifth-grade student selected a historical figure to portray. They also prepared a PowerPoint presentation detailing their person from history. Some of the historical figures selected were; Babe Ruth, Amelia Earhart, Sacagawea, Abraham Lincoln, Julia Child, Thomas Edison, Harriet Tubman, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Johnny Cash, and Louis Armstrong. Several parents and family members were able to witness their portrayals. |

Assistant Fire Chief Duane Hawes and City Representative Bethany Cooper provided information and fielded questions about fire safety and prevention. Each student received a smoke detector and a pencil.
