Monthly Newsletters

September

Parents and Guardians,

Can you believe that September is already here?  Time is flying by quickly.  Your preschooler has been playing hard, learning our routines, and has been making new friends.  Ms Kristi and I have been getting to know your children and enjoying our time

spent together.

This month our topics will include: School bus and Pedestrian Safety, Family, Community Helpers, and Fire Safety.

Sept. 8th -10th We will be discussing Bus & Pedestrian Safety on Tuesday.  Please review the literature in your child’s book bag with your preschooler.  It will be sent home on Tuesday.  Make sure you sign the volunteer sheet after you have completed this activity.

Wednesday and Thursday we will focus on Family/Grandparents.  We will be having our Grandparents’ breakfast on Thursday, Sept. 10th.  Please sign in at the office and meet us in the lobby at 8:25.  RSVP please if you haven’t done so already.

Sept. 14th-24th We will be learning about Community Helpers.  We will discuss the importance of having helpers within our community, and learn ways we can be community helpers.

Sept. 28-Oct.1st We will learn the importance of fire safety.  We will also have our first field trip.  We will visit the Benton Fire Department from 9-10 A.M. on Wednesday, Sept. 30th.  We will practice during class STOP-DROP- & ROLL, and dialing 911 when we have an emergency.  Please continue to practice this with your child at home as well.

If you would like to volunteer in the classroom or go with us on our field trips, you must have completed a school background check and be approved by the elementary school.  You may get the paperwork from BES office or from Head Start office.

With the cooler weather quickly approaching us, we would like to remind you to make sure your child’s name is written on his/her jacket.

AT HOME SUGGESTION

There are many activities you can do at home with your preschooler.  To help your child understand the concept of family, you may choose to begin by looking at family photographs with your child.  While doing this discuss family traditions and customs.  You can also encourage your child to dictate (they tell you what they want you to write on paper for them) a letter to a family relative or friend.  If it is pretty outside you could take a walk together or go on a family picnic.
