Hello, my name is Nicole Shelby and I am a 4th grade teacher at Benton Elementary. I am glad that you have taken a moment to explore our class webpage. I hope that you will find value information to help keep you informed about what is going on in the classroom. While you are visiting, I would like to take a moment to introduce myself so that you will know a little bit more about me. I orginally grew up in McCracken County where I graduated from Reidland High School in 1998. From there, I went on to obtain a degree in Elementary Education at Murray State University in May 2003. While teaching, I earned my Master's degree in December 2005. Then in November 2008, I received National Board Certification to earn my Rank I. I am beginning my eighth year of teaching and this is my second year at BES. Prior to coming to becoming a "Chief", I spend six years teaching at Hendron Lone Oak Elementary. There I taught fourth grade for three years and fifth grade for three years. I have been married to my best friend, David, for eight years. He is an insurance adjuster for AMIG. Although, we do not have children, we have a yellow Lab, named Drake. He is absolutely spoiled rotten. If you have watched the movie Marley & Me, then you have seen a glimpse of what a day with my "Drakers" is like. But despite it all, we love him dearly and can't imagine life without him. Besides teaching, I enjoy traveling to the beach. My husband and I take a vacation every summer (usually to Jamaica). I also enjoy watching television, reading, and shopping. Some of my favorite things include fall, polka dots (if you haven't noticed), the color pink (especially with lime green), candles, exercising, and UK basketball. Go CATS! I know that teaching is truly my calling in life and I enjoy every minute of it. Thank you for sharing your child with me this year. I know we are going to have a wonderful school year. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I am always here to help.
My wonderful cohorts
